I long to live wonderstruck.
It’s a posture. A choice. An attitude of living with holy night vision goggles. Searching under every branch, in every nook and cranny for the wonders of our great God.
Because when we live wonderstruck, we live with divine expectation that God longs to meet us today—smack dab where we are—with his goodness, grace, mercy, and love.
How does that sound? Will you join me and choose to #LIVEWONDERSTRUCK starting today?
Here are 7 ways to awaken to wonder now:
1. Get outside.
Relish the wonder of God’s creation. Take a walk around your block. Drive to a body of water nearest to you—the ocean, stream, river, lake. Slip out and stare at the stars. Notice the summer wildflowers, the barbeque smells, the laughter of the kids across the street.
2. Sit in silence.
Carve out five minutes to be in God’s presence today. Set a timer and allow the stillness to infuse you with God’s goodness and grace.
3. Rest.
Binge your on favorite Netflix show. Color and paint your favorite Scripture coloring book—like Live Loved. Sneak in a catnap. Allow your eyes to rest during the midafternoon. Climb into bed an hour early. Look for a few minutes where you can rest—allowing your mind and body and emotions to recalibrate.
4. Shake up your prayer life.
Challenge yourself to limit your prayers to 3 words. Stand in wonder and awe at how intentional your prayers become.
5. Gather together.
Schedule time with a friend or someone you want to know better. Grab coffee, lunch, take a walk. Enjoy the gifts found in friendship.
6. Forgive and ask forgiveness.
Extend forgiveness to someone you’ve been harboring bitterness toward—let them know three things you appreciate about them. Ask forgiveness from someone you’ve offended or wronged. Allow the wonder of forgiveness to set you free.
7. Celebrate.
Pull out your special occasion dishes. Blow up bright balloons. Eat the mouth-watering chocolate-covered treat. Wear your favorite outfit. Let’s celebrate the wonders of God that we’ve experienced over the last 7 weeks.
God wants to continue to astound you with wonder upon wonder. Through the wonder of friendship and forgiveness, prayer and rest, creation and gratitude, we experience the gifts of our great God.
And along the way we will know God as one who is full of Wonder.
One that’s filled with divine expectation of His presence. Filled with the joy of vibrant relationships. One in which prayer becomes as natural as breathing. One in which we learn to give thanks—ten thousand times over—no matter what situation we find ourselves in.
Live awake and aware for the wonder awaits.
