Is the Pace of Our World is Moving Slower or Faster? The Answer Might Surprise You

Whizzing. Whirling. Whooshing.

If Dr. Seuss wrote a book about the pace our world, I’d expect frolicking words—swift and speedy, zipping and zapping, romping and rocketing—all dotting the pages.

Some finger point technology, others the never-ending to-do’s.

The cause is debatable, but I sense it deep in my gut. How are we already in the beginning of June? 2015 is almost half gone.

Time is like cash. Hard to earn, easy to spend, difficult to trace.

Sometimes it feels like there’s no spare moment to buckle your seat belt, latch your helmet, or prepare for take off when it comes to change.

I sense it deep in my gut. My hunch is you do, too.

As this graphic reveals, the radical social changes taking place all around us isn’t just our imaginations:

If you wake up and find yourself on the twirl-a-whirl of social change and feel like you’re going to throw up, it’s okay to let people know you need more time.

Time to think.

Time to pray.

Time to research.

Time to understand.

Time to listen and learn.

Time to dive into the nuances and complexities.

Time to form a thoughtful, well-spoken response.

The world may demand a knee jerk answer. Don’t give in. Keep your legs crossed, and confess, “I need some time.”

“There’s no time,” voices will press.

“There’s always time, if we make it,” you tell them.

As our world romps and rockets forward, we must become the people who come apart so we don’t come apart. People who pursue wisdom, become fluent in love, and promenade in grace.

In our fast paced world, time is not our enemy. Time is our very best friend.

What is one issue you wish you had more time to think, study, and understand?
